Marketing Connections maintains a condensed permanent staff and untilizes a network of experienced researchers, ethnographers, new product designers/developers, Kellogg students/alums, marketing consultants, thought-leaders and Asia/China sourcing/packaging experts in the US and China. Marketing Connections has developed and launched over $100 million of new products.
Meet our core team:
Phil Corse
Phil Corse has a classical marketing background and has worked for several consumer products package goods and durables companies for 15 years. He has held a variety of positions in global marketing, sales and general management positions. He co-founded 5 companies with new products/new technology in Singapore, China and Chicago. He has conducted hundreds of new product and marketing engagements. He sources products from China for his clients and his own companies. Phil has helped launch dozens of new products that have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in sales.
He is an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Northwestern where he has been teaching International Marketing at Kellogg since 1993. He also teaches the capstone course in marketing for the Master of Product Development program at the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern and a Global New Product Development course for Thunderbird.
Phil was a member of the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management Board of Directors for 9 years where he currently teaches the Asia Perspective course in Beijing and Bangkok. He has also taught marketing, entrepreneurship and the capstone strategy course at LFGSM.
Emily Brinkmoeller
Emily is a Kellogg trained business
development executive working in international marketing and business
development for over ten years.
Most recently, Emily served as Managing Director of the
World Trade Center Illinois. As managing
Director, Ms. Brinkmoeller was responsible for the day to day operations
of the trade center, including business development and long term
strategy. Before joining the World Trade Center
Illinois, Ms. Brinkmoeller was an international trade specialist for an
affiliated trade center: the Kentucky
World Trade
Center in her home town of Louisville, Kentucky. Her
main responsibilities at the KWTC included trade research and counseling
for KWTC clients as well as development and facilitation of cross
cultural training programs for Kentucky
multinational companies.
Ms. Brinkmoeller holds and MBA in International
Business, Marketing and Entrepreneurship from Northwestern University’s
Kellogg School of Management. Her studies at
Kellogg have taken her to South Africa to study the
business environment, opportunities and culture. She
holds an International Business Development Certification from Thunderbird University
in Arizona. Additionally, Ms. Brinkmoeller is a graduate of the University of Kentucky
in Lexington, Kentucky with a BA in Psychology. During her years as an undergrad she also attended Webster University
in Leiden, The Netherlands and Hua-Hin, Thailand studying psychology
and cross cultural communication.
Marcelino Garcia
Marcelino Garcia brings many years of international business
development experience to Overseas Strategies. Most recently, Marcelino served as Senior Manager of
International Relations for Chicago 2016, working closely with committee members of 2016, the
USOC to promote Chicago's Olympic candidacy to the IOC. Prior
to this post,
Marcelino served as Assistant Managing Director of the Illinois Office
of Trade and Investment where he worked with Illinois companies looking to export to new markets in the Americas, Africa
and the Middle East. At OTI, he also led trade and investment missions
to the Australia, China, Israel, Jordan, Mexico,Russia, South Africa
and Ukraine.
Marcelino has
held many government posts focusing on government affairs/community
relations, legislative, budget/procurement and trade relations in the
state and local government. He is quite adept in helping companies
navigate the bureaucracy that the US system at times presents.
Marcelino is a licensed attorney in the State of Illinois and the
Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. He earned his J.D. from Northwestern
University and his Bachelor's Degree from Dartmouth College. He is
fluent in English and Spanish and is proficient in French, Italian, and
Portuguese.
